It’s no secret that WFG’s core value is helping families. The company and all WFG independent associates take great pride in what we do to help people get on the right financial track and understanding the fundamentals of finances. However, for WFG Associate Stacy Richter, teaching the importance of understanding the fundamentals of finances to the next generation is a mission he’s determined to bring awareness to.
“I started this initiative because of what we do in WFG,” says Richter. “If we are trying to help adults understand finances, chances are they aren’t able to teach their children how to handle them. Whether it’s a lack of confidence or they are embarrassed about their own situation, this information is not being taught in the home.” To help more children be understand financial concepts and be prepared in their adult lives, Stacy developed Wealth E. Kids, an initiative dedicated to teaching children the importance of finances and building wealth. Wealth E. Kids has partnered with Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta, a non-profit organization, with a mission of developing an entrepreneurial attitude, while helping students gain an understanding of business and finance. The four key areas focused on in the curriculum include:
- Saving
- Spending
- Investing
- Giving
A recent event included 40 WFG associates along with Jr. Achievement representatives who volunteered their time to teach “Dollars with Sense & Economics for Success.”
“I’m so passionate about this initiative and it’s very important to all of us”, Stacy says. “I wish we had something like this when I was growing up!”
